    1. It's not about letting the family cross first. It's about you crossing the road at a red light an thereby giving a bad example to the kid. Kids are being taught to only cross the streets at the crossing when there's a green light, because then it's safest. And there comes that guy showing that kid that it's okay to go on red, when the traffic is rolling.

    2. On a red crosslight its not about who goes first its about to teach ur kids not to cross a red light cause its dangerous for a kid to cross a street and when grown up people cross the streets with red light kids could see it as a role model n cross the street by themself n harm dangerous accidents…..its more about teaching your kids.

    3. I live in germany for over 40 years by now.
all children learn by mandatory law, at elementary schools how to cycle their bikes, basic traffic signs and have theory lessons and practical lessons and get all tested practical by a real traffic police! They learn to call police, the traffic rules. Parents and society fought for decades, since 1970, for the safety of public space, public transit, sidewalks, cycling network, that is safe for children, girls, women, seniors, disabled, not only for grown up males. that comes with teaching and informing and educating all.
Kids go by themselves to schools, meet on the way their schoolmates , walk, cycle to elementary school in germany, and so did I. we learned how to be cautious, get the right help, knew traffic rules, behave on streets and this is how you become responsible as adult too.
when you are an adult, having your driver lessons and get your driver licence, you are also the child, who walked, cycled to places, crossed streets, you are careful as an adult and that public space is not just there for the adults and kids must be locked up at homes and get depressed and develope anti-social behavior.
the extended german driver licence theory and practical lessons, which cost usually in average 2000 , twothousand euro, in about 6 months time, is done in specialized driver ed schools where the car is provided and instructors must be licenced by government, and after the extended mandatory lesson, you have to get an extended first-aid-class offered by the fire department and visiontest done by opthalmologist and it will be noted in your driver ID if you are only allowed to drive a car, if you wear the right glasses or lenses, or you get high fine and loose at some point your driver licence. your car must be top notch and get certificate, have to carry first-aid-kit that is not expired, have to carry a neon color safetywest and a big warning triangle to put on street and care for the accident site. with that, you are allowed on some parts of the autobahn, highway to drive without speed limit.
When you stand on street light and want to cross a street, as and adult, you are a rolemodel for everybody but especially for a child and if there are kids also wanting to cross a street and wait till the light turns from red to green, you better follow the rule and if you know your responsibility as an adult and impact on others, no one will be angry at you.
europe, germany had high numbers in child death , getting hit by cars or in traffic accidents and only way to reduce is, to educate everyone and not lock kids up at homes while adult usually males drive around day and night outside, like in USA.

Cashiers in germany, who work part to full time, get rather higher pay than in USA, they get all at least 4 week yearly paid mandatory vacation, they are forced to take it! there is no negotiation possible to please the boss. they all have affordable healthcare and have the right to sit all the time as cashier, have the right for ergonomic chairs, best light, best temperature in store and follow strict hours to take time off for lunch etc. they have usually each sunday free, bc stores are closed on sundays and people in europe are ok with that because people, especially female population who work as cashier, moms, need rest and family time, and if someone wants to go to church, they can.
second, the system is registering how fast items are pushed and the cashier have to work fast. stores in germany are smaller and the lines standing people, can get easily full.
cashiers scan items fast, but not that fast as foreign people think.

US ciitzens visit usually places where a lot of tourists and migrants live, who do not always follow the rules , arent trained or raised that way and give wrong impression about germany.
the city Köln he visited, is one of it, full of migrants and subcultures, its not really that german when you go to "touristy" places , especially in summer monthes.

    4. It's about being a role model for the children at the red light. We used to have stickers on the traffic lights: "Be a role model! Only go when the traffic light is green!"

    5. Well you have to take into account James had guidence during his visit all the time meaning he was accompanied with local Germans he already knew (not in person obviously but from his discord or from what ever social media activities) the entire time at his visit and who basically showed him stuff to do/to visit/to try out..
That´s obviously always a different experience than visiting a foreign country solely by your own knowing nobody.

    6. You really need to get a better microphone. I always have to tune up yours' just being able to listen to you, while I have to tune the sound down, when segments of @JamesBray are played.
Maybe, it's only just a matter of your software, but please take a serious look on your hardware, since this is a thing on all of your videos.

    7. you dont have to let the child cross, you CANT be a bad example to the child by crossing on red, because in germany children go to school by themselves from the age of 6 or 7 alot, so if you show the child that its "possible" to cross on red you are endangering the child, the parrents basicly feel like you hit theire child over the head with a beer bottle thats why it gets intense.

    8. He is NOT a celebrity in Germany. 🤣 Sure, some Youtubers know him and some have may seen a video of his, but that's it. That being said, his look and style is quite unique with the Naruto headband etc., I would say he is very recognizable. As far as crossing red lights is concerned, it's about being a good role model for children as an adult, it's for the safety of kids. Why should children follow the rules when they see that adults don't?

    9. The thing with for example the red traffic lights is just be a good example for kids… Kids copy the behavior of adaults.. If you do not obey to rules so why should they…? You don't let them cross the street first, just wait until it's turning green and then everybody can walk across the street at the same time and safely…

    10. Cologne is a big city and he probably was downtown or near traffic but which busy city isn't loud? When you get to areas where people actually live it is not as loud. Also Cologne is not a good reference because it has more people than most other German cities.

    11. Regarding friendlyness of Germans I think there is a little misunderstanding. We don't like small talk and often say very directly what we think. For foreigners this seems to be rude, but it's not meant that way.

    12. You don't have the famely cross the street first, you don't to give the child a bad example!! You know the child see this an think: o this adult did it so I do it too! something like this is a nono in Germany!

    13. Hi bro & maybe already got told….just in case not: pls check the volume levels before uploading your videos in the future. (The video u r reacting to really hits hard when it starts^^) in case u have problems with levelling up your own videos u better level down the videos u r reacting to.Best wishes from GerFew (formerly known as GerMany, hehe) … u gotta new subscriber, too!

    14. In Germany and also the Netherlands (both have a lot of similarities in culture and they share a lot of similair history) it is unusual to have a chat with a store employee or cash register employee. We simply don't really like fake interest. We often find the customer service in the U.S. very pushy and overwhelming, especially in restaurants.

We value privacy and genuine interest. Doesn't mean you can't ask us questions or talk to us, but we don't like fake service that feels forced.

So in a supermarket it is normal to only say "hello" and then pay and "thanks good day/evening".

    15. Cologne is just not “typically German”. Cologne is a melting pot of cultures. Sometimes even so bad that it annoys outsiders. We have a saying: "In Cologne you don't want to hang dead over a fence"
