Peak District in Winter – Snowy and cold ride into the Peak District from Manchester

THE RIDE
Technically is not winter (yet) but with temperatures well below 0 degrees and a recent snowfall, it definitely felt like winter had arrived early. The kid in me couldn’t resist and HAD to go out and play…
Some skidding and slightly dodgy descents, but no falls for once!

I had a pair of XC Schwalbe tyres which handled conditions pretty well considering they’re not meant for snow and mud, and had well over 1000km ridden on them.
Temperatures oscillated between -1 and +1C for the entire ride and, in classic Mancunian fashion, it started to rain heavily on the way back.
Thanks GRVL.cc for keeping me warm and dry with their 3season jacket which was perfect for the conditions.
