What happens to your body when you run a full marathon every day for 7 days? Well, thanks to our friends at @WHOOP, we challenged Mark & James to take it on! Between the working week and other life commitments, this was going to be no mean feat! Could they complete it?

This might be the toughest challenge we have ever done and that’s saying something! We’ve done some silly things, but we’ve pushed the limit here! A couple of years ago Mark did a challenge where he ran a half-marathon every day for a week and it was more challenging than first thought.

This time the boys have a new challenge that is literally twice as big – a marathon every day, for a week! We’re bringing you along for the journey, and with the help of @WHOOP we’ll dive into the data of just how hard this challenge actually is, and whether can we actually complete it!

    1. Great going guys, got some way to catch this guy though 🤣

Ben Smith is a marathon runner who completed 401 marathons in 401 days in England between 2015 and 2016. He began his run on September 1, 2015 and ran for 284 consecutive marathons until a back injury forced him to stop for 10 days. He later resumed and finished with 401 marathons with a total of raised £330,000 for Kidscape and Stonewall. In 2016, he received the Helen Rollason Award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards.

    2. Long-distance tyre pull… My record is 31.5 km, but would be interested to see how accomplished (and way younger) athletes get on, plus what all your fancy metrics say about it. My gut feel is it's twice as hard as a normal run when ran at the same pace. Long hill runs are a great challenge btw 🙂

    3. I knew that I wouldn't do 7 marathons in 7 days before watching, but thanks for helping confirm that for me 🙂 Btw, where is James' accent from? It seems quite unique to me, though I've gotten used to it by now!

    4. Brutal! Fair play, I can't imagine seeing this through. I've done 2 marathons 6 days a part (Boston & London and also separately London & Berlin 7 days a part) and that was tough, any more is a no from me. Impressive work.

    5. Great challenge! There was some interesting data shared on gender differences in HRV in multi-stage cycling events. Would love to see this discussed in a future video.

    6. There is nothing you can learn from Whoop Mark. There are two many daily changes which can impact your output. I would same James also had daily changes which will also impact the data output. But what it does show is data is nothing compared to mental will power.

    7. I would to see a behind the scenes of this, both you guys always seemed so cheery when the camera was rolling but I’m guessing some interesting words were said in some takes, especially by the sounds of Marks routes

    8. I've got Manchester marathon then London marathon on back to back weekends next year. I keep telling people, if I can do an Ironman swim and bike then run a marathon I can definitely run one, have six days off, then run another. This also helps me prove it.

Congrats on the baby Mark, make sure you practice training without sleep as that is how it will be for the next few years.
