    1. not sure if I like this. Kinda conceding the tour then? I guess UAE wants grand tour victories and if they no longer can get the tour then giro is the next best thing :/

    2. Interesting and a bit surprising. I assume it means that he more or less forfeits the Tour de France and considering the route that doesn't really fit him too good, it is understandable. Make sure to get another Grand Tour on his palmarés.

    4. 2 scenarios: a) Pogacar thinks it's too big a gamble to plan his whole 24 season around the Tour as he might not win the tour and he'd risk going without big win in the season. b) He is so confident that he believes he can win both the Giro and the Tour. I believe a) is the more likely scenario and Pogacar might not believe he can beat Vingegaard, noting how Vingegaard dominated the last 2 tours.

    5. I love how genuine and passionate you guys are about everything cycling! Not biased (you are upfront about your favourites but always fair), never cynical, never taking anything for granted or speaking in absolutes… it’s so refreshing and wholesome. Well done

    6. Would be awesome if Jonas joins now that Wout has NO hope anyway and his closest rival is there.
That would remove excuses at the tour as Well and Jonas has phenomenal recovery.
Then again, Roglic at the tour..

    7. Ugh, of course this is an appearance deal. What a shame. I would be more excited about it if it was purely for competitiveness reasons. But I can't complain too much since this is UAE team emirates that we are talking about.

I was/am personally rooting for Jonas to go the Giro given that he could have a legitimate shot at winning all three GTs in the same year.

    8. I reckon Pogacar is taking, Yates, Wellens & Majka with him as main lieutenants. The rest of the squad will probably be guys like Fisher-Black, Hirschi, Christen, etc… who might get some chances to prove themselves. The Tour squad will probably be Ayuso & Almeida assisted by Vine, Sivakov, McNulty and similar to see how they perform in the Tour before sending them to help Pogi win the Tour again in 2025. Maybe they'll send Molano too if they want some extra stage wins.

    9. Was waiting for a real fight at the tour next year.. So history will say.. Pog never beat jonas at his peak.. Such a shame. UAE accepted defeat in advance and is going for points and a grand tour

    10. I honestly think Pogi will go for the Giro-Vuelta to complete the Grand Tour collection. I know he said the Olympics RR doesn't suit him but surely he also wants to go for it. It'll probably be impossible to challenge for it if he has both the Giro and Tour in his legs.

Also, riding the Vuelta means he comes out of it in great shape and he'll be on form for the Worlds RR. Two possible GTs, possible gold in the Olympics and Worlds plus 1 or 2 Monuments will be a legendary season already, even without the TDF.

    11. so, a team that is already filled to the brim with GC ambitious riders is going to send its top GC rider to yet another grand tour? curious to see how that team is going to look like

    12. Ask any peloton racer what he would rather win – Only TDF a few times or All the grand tours, a few classics, a medal at the olympics and a world championships. I think we all know the answer. TDF is not what it was anymore and to be honest, i think Giro and Vuelta are much more interesting races than TDF.
