Who would you like to see Mark or Conor take on next? π
(before watching) GO GTN!!!
Back in the day, when I could actually run, I used to beat cyclists on the uphills on a regular basis. as it was, the steeper the climb, the more advantage to the runner. Maybe something a bit less steep, say 10%, and the result would be the other way.
1… Ollie is probably faster than SI
2… if you have ever watched the tipsy overweight gents running uphill and keeping up with the grand tour pros, it was a foregone conclusion which way this was going to go.
@0:08 Hi Cycling! I'm Internet Stranger telling a dad joke.
First time on Zwift a runner came past me on a hill. Pretty demoralising π
Andrew Feather
Loser
Andrew feather of course
why is mark wearing two different shoes? π
Great sporting attitude from Conor and Mark, that really was good to watch and straight up good fun ! Conor is a powerful dude with a big chassis to propel up that hill so credit where its due but I reckon a smaller framed cyclist might run Mark a bit closer ! Keep stuff like this coming , I love it !
Good effort Conor but a shame as that was always evitable, you need to be able spin & not grinned, so 32 chainring to a 34 or 36 cassette. I think the next presenter should Hank!
Should have made it a race up and down again, think that might have gone a bit better π
Mark vs Ollie. That'll be a good race.
Who is this Sigh? 4:29 Did we ever see him go fast? (He is not on the gcn presenters listed on the website)
Come on! Connor?! Next should be Hank and then Andrew Feather. They should crush it!!
Time for a triathlon for Connor π
GTN triathlon staff is not meant to play with, they are such serious contenders. Mark and Heather are indescribably great. At low speed a runner might have some advantage, also Connor is too big of a human being,, to climb efficiently. Still, Connor did great and climbed like a champ taking into account his super large body, my hats off to him
A good runner is going to be faster than a good cyclist up a steep gradient. How about testing the tipping point in gradient to which running becomes advantageous to cycling?
Get Feather involved and see it's the same outcome?!?
No surprises there. I have always been faster than cyclist up the steep Malvern Hills. However, this was pre-electric days. No chance now.
You might need to draft in The Feather.
Put the Feather guy against the runner, lets see who laughs for last π«’
Running is loveπ
Wow I stand in awe
I am starting to doubt Conor was ever a pro.
Quite simply, climbing steep hills is weight fighting gravity. The runner doesn't have the extra weight of the bike to add. Also, human physiology is fairly well adapted to this, whilst it's rather poor at higher speed stuff.
Flying giraffes and daddy-long-legs… what is happeneing over in England?
I would have been dead after 30sec of running
because they are using different group muscles at different level
