UNMISSABLE!!!! Abandoned Sea Defences ADVENTURE on the R1250!!!!

Once know as Latvia’s most dangerous town we head to the infamous town of Karosta. Built on the bare coast it consisted of a large man-made harbour including a large breakwater and inland submarine base.

We navigate through the eerie remnants of Karosta’s once-thriving military complex, unravelling its transition from imperial origins to a closed Soviet military area.

Our journey includes an off-roading escapade, conquering rugged terrain to discover the hidden gems of Karosta—the abandoned coastal defences. Delve into the mysterious past, witnessing the haunting beauty of decay and learning about the challenges faced by this former Soviet military town, transformed into an uninhabited area after the Soviet Union’s withdrawal in 1994.

This motorcycle adventure on our BMW R1250 GS Adventure isn’t just about off-roading; it’s a captivating exploration of history and resilience. Join us as every twist and turn reveals a chapter of Karosta’s complex narrative.

    1. Maybe also the Russians destroyed them when they left, im not sure, but I heard that it was a construction mistake, because of the sand and the sea they were not standing well

    2. A fascinating mini-documentary, with very interesting commentary! I once travelled around these same places in the rain oblivious to any of the history or nuance. Please continue to have lovely adventures 🌸🤗
