That close pass was horrendous and at speed, glad Julie is ok! I would definitely report it as the next cyclist that lunatic passes may not be so lucky.

Like I mentioned before send any close passes like that one into Operation Snap. However, the fact you've posted it up on a public site is a no-no as that can jeopardise any action the police might take. If similar happens again and you do intend to submit clip to police, don't include on video etc on YouTube or any other site until after any potential action is concluded. For what it's worth, that is exactly the sort of close pass that I've experienced many times and I always send in to Op Snap and they have always been actioned.
Note you can still submit the close pass but there is a message on Op Snap site to remove from social media etc.
So many observations today. That close pass was terrifying, I'm not surprised by Julie's response. You passed my childhood home in Highcliffe, now demolished and replaced by two houses. You passed our previous home in Bashley. And I have some bib shorts the colour of Mike's jacket, so think it's just perfect. I got caught by the floods around Ringwood in my car on Saturday, it was mayhem.
Nice ride Mike and Julie, pity that absolute moran spoilt it with a dangerous close pass and that was close, probably texting on their phone or over the drink driving limit, obviously not concentrating on driving,

That close pass was ridiculous, the level of competent, safe driving seems to be at an all time low at the moment, i have a ‘near miss’ nearly every other time i go out. Glad you got over it quickly!
That close pass was nothing short of criminal, so dangerous. Driving standards really are getting worse by the day. Personally, I think a driving licence must be seen as a privilege, not a right, and it should be far harder to obtain, and a lot easier to lose. I'd give that driver a year's ban just for that close pass alone.
Don't worry Julie, I think Mike's got the wrong poo in mind when you're describing his top – you mean Winnie the Pooh don't you 😉

I just had this happen to me this weekend. The road was straight, no car was approaching from the other lane & I was passed so close that I could have touched the truck. It’s unreal how mean & hateful some people are to put your life at stake by not moving over. I’m seriously thinking about going back to just mountain biking & gravel. It’s almost always some redneck in a pickup truck over here in the states.
Have you considered using a Cat-eye BM-45 rear mirror to the drop bar to show vehicles sneaking up behind you?

I haven't cycled in the UK since the last century, but from what I understand the relationship between motorists and cyclists has gone down a very steep hill, and not in an exciting bike ridey sort of way…😒
I hope you have reported the close pass and provided the video evidence. It should be enough to convict.

Yeah. I had to load it up on my tv to get a better look at that pass. Don’t let that go unreported. Personally I’d have given flat out chase and stopped in front of the car then stayed there for an educational lesson. Cars are crap and bicycles are great so drivers need to learn to drive like the crap slow vehicles they are not try to be dominant.
