This week we have a very special bonus podcast to share where we got to catch up with former Swansea City manager Kenny Jackett about his time at Swansea. In his first managerial role, he managed to start what went on to be Swansea’s journey to the Premier League after taking over from Brian Flynn one year on from Swansea narrowly avoiding relegation from the Football League. Kenny won promotion to League One in his first full season in charge, narrowly missed out on back to back promotions in a penalty shootout to Barnsley, and won several pieces of silverwear for Swansea during his time. He also signed many well known and popular past players for the Swans, including Gary Monk, Adebayo Akinfenwa and Darren Pratley, as well as overseeing the best spells of Lee Trundle and Andy Robinson. Now in a Sporting Director role at Gillingham, Kenny shares his memories about his successful three year stint at the Swans!

    1. I’m a plastic arsenal fan but My first game was the first season down the liberty against orient. Always stuck with me seeing briton on the wing 😂 bizarre to think how he operated in the middle after that. Great episode lads. Idk how lee has a gaff like that. Didn’t think they existed in Swansea 😂

    2. Brilliantly insightful gents. Almost forgot the two of you were there which is always the sign of a good interview. It really annoys me when people talk about the recent history of the swans as if it started with Martinez due to this idea of "the Swansea Way". To deny Kenny Jackett is to deny the legacy of the handover from the vetch and the bulk of a side that Roberto inherited. The best of Trundle was of course under Kenny too. Despite all of the success that followed this was my favourite time folliowing the swans as I went to the most away games in the promotion year. The Bury game will live long in the memory.
