Britain’s newest station is now open! Welcome to Brent Cross West servied by Thameslink services, it’s station number 2580 on the National Rail network.
#BrentCross #BrentCrossWest
It’s been built to serve the new Brent Cross Town development to the east of the station, at a cost of £419 million. This is government funding secured by Barnet Council from the Department of Levelling Up.
Alongisde the 7000 square foot station, hundreds of metres of tracks were reconfigured, and new modern railway sidings delivered, to allow Brent Cross West to be built.

6:33 hang on……………………did he say Sheffield uni?
Yes I was mighty impressed with the station . And I love what they are doing on the Barnet side , Brent Cross Town.and great to meet you too.
It seems like the future-proofing for Brent Cross West includes accommodation for the Dudding Hill line. The West London orbital plan seems to be moving along nicely.
The station code for Brent Cross West by the way is ‘BCZ’ and not the more obvious ‘BCW’ which is not in use elsewhere! Does anyone know why?
Another great video from Geoff. No need to permanently close the ticket office here, when one wasn't opened in the first place! Finally, I thought there was some provision was going to be made for the proposed West London Orbital line, although I could be wrong?
Is that a fabric roof on the platforms?
Very impressive 😁👍
Passed through there heading between Cricklewood and Mill Hill heading north, then returning to West Hampstead about an hour later-this was the week before. I don't like the fact there appears to bne no ticket office.
Nice to see a new station not done on the cheap which is key to actually attracting passengers. Wide platforms, proper canopy coverage, covered footbridge, toilets, waiting rooms and decent accessibility.
Thanks for that Geoff. Do you know, was/is there a direct walk-way to the BrentCross-Tube Station from BrentCross-West Station?
Nice Video Geoff, the station looks lovely
Great station, great waist coat, great band!
I’m not sure why they bothered with building the fast line platforms if nothing much will stop at them…
Yet another nondescript modern carbuncle! I wonder what it will look like in 10 years. 😀
Will it go to Luton and Gatwick airports??
Looks like if you pay by cash you cant use the station, its a nice new station but it will be cashless station sadly ,also what would be nice if they opened the mothballed lines in Lichfield connecting burton and eventually liechester
Any idea WHY the platforms aren't level boarding?
Also I'd like to see them re-vamp Hendon next to bring it in line with nearby stations.
Side note: does it count as getting whamaggedoned if you sing it in your own head?
I wanted to go to Brent Cross shopping centre but the station is not connected to Brent Cross . The bus stops outside are closed so you have to take a 10 minute walk to bus stops to get you BX. Not useful for people with mobility issues. This may be fixed soon.
It is a beautiful station but the bus stops were closed on Monday 11th December then I had to walk down the road
I hâve to go there one day
Good to see Brent Cross West open. I visited today, walking to Brent Cross Shopping Centre is a bit of a challenge but I suppose the clue is in the name, its somewhat west of Brent Cross. Looking forward to seeing Brent Cross Town develop.
Hey Geoff – Are you going to visit the newly reopened Northumberland Line next year?
I was going to say this year, but it's been delayed slightly.
Bring a very warm, waterproof coat! 😀
It doesn't seem to have been entered in the Realtime Trains database yet
Calling it "Brent Cross" is a bit of a stretch though isn't it? "Brent Cross Road?" "Brent Cross Parkway?"
Seeing this station makes you realise how badly stations like Luton and bedford need investment in order to bring these busy stations up to date
I when to Brent cross west. But when I started to trainspot a class 66 dad told me that his breaks was dragging, so we told a staff member to stopped the class 66 to avoid it to catch fire.
Does the new station increase the travel time for journeys passing it, or do they compensate by speeding up a bit?
several hundred people whamageddoned?? the DJ at a recent northampton town game did it to just over 7200 fans
One hopes that we will not wait too long for the proposed Overground link to Brentford.
I live in brent cross
Manky horrible gray colour.
Would honestly happily go to the fast platforms just to sit there and have trains pass by at speed 😂
People will get thrown off and will throw themselves off that viewing gallery
Local roadmen will enjoy this new almost abandoned station, fo shizzle.
Great, 6000 new homes, think he meant 1 bed cardboard boxes at probably £350.000 upwards.
That’s a really nicely presented station. I hope it doesn’t get trashed.
TFL is not worth it
Did you see the 3 hour wait passengers had on Elizabeth line train?
I thought Thameslink trains went North to Bedford. Yet no mention of it, only Luton & St. Albans. How come?
I stopped there on Monday at about 7am. Zero people there / got off / on
Good to see it finished, I visited some time ago while it was being built. Well done to the VolkerFitzpatrick team.
