✨Hello Everyone and welcome to my preview of the 2022 Tour De France Stage 10.

I’m riding the last 30kms of Stage 10 of the 2022 Tour de France from Morzine to Megeve. Classed as a hilly stage, the route could have been so much more as our region is surrounded by famous Cols of the Tour de France such as the Col de Joux Plane, Col de la Colombiere,Col des Aravis and Col de Romme. I’ve added my thoughts on what the stage could have been. This preview of Stage 10 of the 2022 Tour de France takes me from the outskirts of Sallanches through St Gervais and onto Megeve and the finale of the last on the climb to Megeve Altiport.

If I was the course designer I would have opted for something like this.

Morzine, climb the Col de la joux Verte, back down the Avoriaz road to Morzine. Col de Joux Plane to Samoens. Down to Taninges, and over the Cote de Chatillon. Through Cluses, up the Col de Romme and the Col de la Colombiere. Down to Les Grand Bornand. Over the Col des Aravis from la Clusaz. Through Praz sur Arly and Megeve finishing at Megeve Altiport. This would have been a 150KM stage with 4200M of climbing. What do you think?

    This is a cycling vlogumentary.

    1. You should be a route planner for these big cycling events Mike ! What you don't know about cycling in the Alps, isn't worth knowing in my humble opinion ! Love the graphics, really brings it to life for me.

    2. Like your stage, but TBH i see stage 10 as a warm up "hilly" day for the pro's after a rest day (not us mere mortals who would be suffering on the actual route).
The days in the alps are really about stages 11 & 12 and the things like the in effect marmotte reveresed stage (12) obviously preceded by the Granon stage after crossing the Galibier from the opposite Telegraphe side.
Making yours as hard as you have would probably just neutralize it anyway. Stages 11 and 12 are very much in "hommage" to Bernard Hinault and 1986 in particular – can see why they did it.

    3. I really like your proposed route and might give it a shot when I am back in the area 🙂 Great video footage and nice to have a glimpse of your new bike! How does the LightCarbon feel? I bet plenty stiff down the BB area yet reasonably smooth given the roads are not too bad where you live? Any reservations yet? Thanks in advance!

    4. know these roads well… but funnily enough.. I've never cycled them!! but this is an area I know well with skiing…My last time on skis (prior to the C-word) was skinning up from Les Contamines to the dam…. (funnily enough, I did go back that same year and cycle from Bourg St Maurice over to Beaufort then up Mont Jolly…. and it ended up a total washout and zero visibility at top… was pretty scary.. as all I had was shorts and short t…… and it was freezing!! I was close to Hypothermia…But here I am… made it!! lol… biggest shitstorm on a bike was when I left Bourg, went up and down petit st Bernard down to La Thuille, then to Pre-Saint Didier, Morgex then up wat I can only remember as a NIGHTMARE – Colle San Carlo and then back down to La Thuille then back over to Bourg… but I was staying in Val Di'Sere…. so I still had to climb to my mates place there!!! Never forget that ride!!! It was a scorcher of a day until I reached top of Petit St Bernard on way home (approx. 3.30pm ish..) when an end of summer storm hit!! I'll never forget what usually is my favourite descent!! I'm lucky to tell the tale!! It was horrendous!! 80mph winds…. lashing rain…. and then when I made it to Seez.. I was relieved… although I still had to get to Val !! I will never forget the relief when I finally made it…. (in darkness!!) and the biggest steak board ever was awaiting me that night!!! Still have the photos of me BBQ'n the steak in the restaurant….forget the name of the place in Val… but it;s famous for it's huge steaks cooked on the open fire!!It was for 2 persons!! I ATE THE LOT MYSELF !!!

    5. Thanks for your videos! My wife and I are planning on coming to watch in 2022, and your videos have been great to get us excited and reassure us not to worry coming from another country. We want to watch in the Alps so perhaps we'll watch stage 10!

Question for you – do you know of a good place to rent bikes nearby? Any recommendations on where to stay?
