    1. I feel like that's more of an American perspective on the game management side comment: It might be that way in the US with American football etc, but in atleast the South African perspective, we know and understand game management is a needed thing especially with how busy the year calendar is. Remember South African sides play in the URC, Champions cup EPCR and Currie Cup and not to mention International games. We have massive stadiums in South Africa, so if people feel like going to the match they just drive to the stadium or go online and buy a ticket, because a lot of fans don't just do it as a go and watch the game, but they just say hey let's all just have fun saturday or on the weekend go to the local food places grab some brandy's and beer and enjoy ourselfs. Also in the SA context and it should be everywhere else, rugby is a team sport, we don't go to support a player, that's more of a US thing of supporting a team because of a player or basically going to games just to see a player play, here we go and watch the whole team play, yes there are fan favorites and happy if they play, but all 15-23 players need to contribute or otherwise the the fails.

Also they make it sound as if we live in the stone ages. It's been standard practice to announce the weekends team during the preceding week for ages now, because how are coaches supposed to predict an unpredictable game and series of games with injuries, HIA etc 2-3 months in advance. People normally buy their ticket the week of anyway. USA glorify and idolize players way too much in my opinion.
