Importing migrants to work in care homes? It’s a very challenging job and takes a very special person to do it. But what their suitability? The elderly and people with disabilities deserve to be supported by competent workers with relevant skills and knowledge which are completely underestimated. Effective communication is a must. Have their experience/qualifications been robustly cross referenced with the uk equivalent?. They need a baseline training as the elderly almost always have more than one condition and are discharged from hospital earlier than ever before. Care workers are not nurses and they earn a pittance. This is an accident waiting to happen.
Successive governments have known for decades that with an ageing population there would be big shortfall in nursing care workers. Germany started planning for this shortly after WW2 whereas successive uk governments just kicked the can down the road……..but now it’s crunch time.
And where are these people going to live? Will they be able to work full time+ in order to support themselves? The whole thing is a disaster and beggars belief.

Sorry to say that the supercilious person you are speaking to Richard has a little more than a dog in this race. No student needs to bring over to the UK all their family members including all there granny s and also all their health problems. The course each overseas student takes should be based solely on merit. and if they pass out then they return to their own country and make that better. this nonsense has been going on so long it is about time some one like you said enough is enough.
The problem isn't the migrants but the government giving them free stuff whilst stealing from others to pay for it.
