Ollie and Hank decided to enter the biggest bike race in America, El Tour de Tucson. At 100 miles long, this was a test of endurance, but also speed. They tried to break the 4-hour 100-mile time barrier. Will Ollie and Hank manage to hit their target or fall behind the peloton?

    1. Best time I ever got was 5 H 31M (under 6 hours is gold) back in 2018(I live here). Since then I do Bike Patrol and help out those riders that have mechanicals like flats and broken chains etc. I just start in the back and ride along slowly and help out who ever is sitting on the side of the road. This ride started in 1981 by a few guys who just laid out a coarse and rode it with no support.

    2. HUGE for us native Tucsonan cyclists to have GCN here. My wife and I are opening a 4-bdrm/2-bath (w/pool) VRBO soon, that is perfectly located on the far eastside of Tucson for access to all the premium eastside riding, the Loop, and Mount Lemmon. Watch for Casa de Mesquite VRBO, LLC. Thanks for coming to Tucson, and please come again!!

    3. Please come try the Tour of the Unknown Coast in Humboldt County, CA. 100 miles lots of hills and I’d like to see how you fare on “The Wall” around mile 80. Love your videos!

    4. Loved the fact you guys came and did this. Unfortunately, I had to skip it this year (have done it multiple years in the past). I plan to be back next year….I hope to see you back.

    5. Didn’t read through all the comments, but I’m not sure how this is the biggest bike race in America… I think Hotter ‘n Hell in Wichita Falls lists 14,000 participants? Entertaining video, though.

    6. That was impressive! Most impressive!

At one point, Olly mentioned cruising at 55 km/h. I can only reach that kind of speed going downhill, and even then I won't have anything left in the tank for later.

Still, I guess the only way is up. At least I'm pedalling semi-regularly these days.

    7. This is similar to my experience at Ride London earlier this year. The first and only ride I’ve done with Closed roads. Best experience on a bike for me. Would love more of the same. Well done Hank and Ollie. Well presented and represented as always 👌

    8. Way to go Ollie! I was so impressed following your training and diet to improve your riding and what a result! I am inspired to keep working at 63. When i follow the outline of your training and diet — and can stay well (respiratory issues have plagued me the past 1.5 years), i do well. Enjoyed it. Impressed. Inspired.

    9. It’s probably noted somewhere in the 680+ comments, but in the elevation profile 1:00 in, “Tucson” is spelled wrong. The ‘c’ and ‘s’ are reversed.

Great job with the video. I’ve ridden this 7 times now (6 under 5 hrs) and the video captures it nicely. I met Hank at a coffee shop and could tell them, they were in Tucson to do a bang up job.

Kudos Hank, Ollie and the GCN crew! 👍🏻
