  1. Fignon died of cancer. Armstrong famously had cancer also. I have heard claims the drugs they used might have acellerated the cancer. I guess we can never know for sure but many riders have suffered ill effects from PED's. This is the main reason why doping should never be made legal.

  2. The reason why cycling has all these problems with doping is due to the absolute strain it puts on your body. A lot of these drugs aid in recovery, allowing them to ride longer and get stronger. The list of banned drugs is pretty large but in some ways, some of these drugs are needed if cyclist are going to not have their bodies break down due to the thousands of miles they have to ride every year to compete. But what Lance did was just plain wrong and really hurt the sport.

  3. Doping will never make an average athlete suddenly a TDF contender.

    Doping will make an already above average athlete even better.

    If everyone is on the same drugs the field is level.
