In this video you will see a long Christmas market walk in Düsseldorf city in Germany. This tour was filmed on a night in the end of November 2023 and covers most of the main Christmas Markets in the city center and of course the beautiful ferris wheel “Wheel of Vision” close to the river Rhine. You will also see a bit of the Königsallee (or KÖ) shopping boulevard and the famous Altstadt (Old Town) with it’s busy Bolkerstraße. The Altstadt-Markt offers arguable the best Christmas market experience in Düsseldorf. Along Flinger Straße, you’ll discover an array of charming Christmas stalls, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Old Town’s colorful facades. For about five weeks before Christmas, the squares within the city center of Düsseldorf are transformed into small Christmas villages. Colorful lights and the scent of mulled wine can be experienced throughout the center of the city. It’s no coincidence that the Christmas Market in Düsseldorf is one of the best in the North Rhine-Westphalia region.
Our walk starts at the Königsallee. Afterwards we will walk to the Schadowstraße and then to the Altstadt (Old Town). Enjoy unique, beautiful Christmas lights in the city with many stalls offering handcrafted goods & tasty German foods.

I was born and lived in Düsseldorf for 50 years and in special the Christmas Markets became year by year more boring.
To be real in contrast to neighbour cities, but what Düsseldorf does is a bunch of boring markets, boring huts and all in all bullshit. Some huts are standing 5 to 10 meters away from each other, sometimes alone in the middle of nowhere. The Burgplatz had much more opportunities and should be fully connected with the Rathaus Place. What happened to the Schauspielhaus? Just these Karussel and 2-3 Huts? Boring! The former Jan Wellem Platz Market is boring too. These Huts look not a piece of charming christmas. Since the last years this place is sooo boring! Why don´t Düsseldorfs City/Market Planner not have a look to closer cities nearby. Aachen is beautiful, Bonn too and Cologne´s "Alter Markt" is absolutely stunning! Even far away in Copenhagen or Zürich are Christmas Markets, Streets and Lanterns or Trees are much better and illuminated. It seems that Düsseldorfs Marketing has no Ideas anymore. And it would be so important for the christmas time to show visitors how beautiful a city can be decorated. Just an example how it works; Cologne Airport has plenty of charter flights from Britain during that time just for visiting christmas markets! Düsseldorf has exact none!
