Barbara Casolla, MD, PhD, Nice Cote d’Azur University, Nice, France, discusses the impact of hormonal therapies such as hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) and oral contraception on stroke risk in women. Dr Casolla further elaborates on the recommended guidelines for utilizing HRT in patients with heightened risk of stroke or after a stroke has occurred, as well as the guidelines for oral contraceptives in younger patients. Current recommendations for minimizing stroke risk are discussed, with potential future approaches also considered. This interview took place during
