Many cities in the Netherlands have long reflected on their bicycle network to encourage a modal shift from car to bicycle. Much attention from policymakers is devoted not only to improve infrastructure to offer people good bicycle facilities, but also to better sell their cycle projects. This time, the Academy WebTV travelled to the Netherlands to discover how Dutch cities are planning their cycling network and meet with several experts on the matter: Bas Braakman – Bicycle Policy Advisor for the City of Eindhoven -, Huub Ploegmakers – Researcher in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment at the Radboud University -, and Jolanda Smit-van Oijen – Cycling Stimulation Expert at XTNT.

This video was produced in collaboration with Breda University of Applied Sciences – EIT Urban Mobility’s partner -, and the Dutch Cycling Embassy.

    1. Yeah right! This is just propaganda, nothing more than what might work elsewhere. Eindhoven is a pain for cycling. Eindhoven is more car centric than even Rotterdam.

And before you complain, I live there, this whole film is bollocks.

    2. Sorry just creating good infrastructure is more than enough which plenty studies have proven. The Dutch are already cycling orientated.
