I feel like we see a lot more of Big Mac's emotions in this one, and you can see the war took it's toll.
Donkeys and horses we used in croatia during the war, in dalmatian mountains, especially during the winter offensive, the winter beforw the operation storm, there was no other way to get the supplies there.
Also we managed to put some t 55s due to their light build, at almost 2000 meters elevation, that thoroughly surprised them, nobody expected tanks there in mountain snow.
Also the casevac was problematic in the mountains high up, so we built from wood a fully functional field hospita that was burried under two meters of snow, but with full medical teams, operation room and all to stabilise wounded and if need be doing complicated procedures, winter time in the mountains, with snow and bura storms, medecav helis are more time useless than not.
You always have to adapt in the war, granted we already gained few years of experience and knew what to expect.
About that donkey-idea.. Finns used the finnish horse to great extent in WW2 and Winter War. It's small but hardy, calm, excells in forests in winter. Was bred to haul logs out of forests.

I would go so far as to say that Americans are trying really REALLY hard to fight WWII again in every conflict they start because that was the war where they had their best performance… and aside from Grenada, they've lost every war, since.
