Hey all – Please let me know your thoughts on this Episode and the story so far. What do you think of Stanley and Isabelle and their Plans? Do you feel George is being a bit of a hypocrite or not? Also, if you want to check out all 1.5 hours of the full length reaction you can do so on my Patreon – link in the video description. Cheers!
Allison Kraus did play the maid on Benson. Robert Guillaume who is playing Frederick Douglas also played Benson in the show Benson, which was a spinoff of the comedy tv series Soap. 😂
Stanley is indeed an idiot and his wife is the even bigger idiot. 😂
This is what we used to call saving pennies but losing dollars. In other words short term gains can often cause long term losses. 😢
In the novel, Orrys and Madeline’s trysts at Salvation Chapel were platonic. Madeline felt she had honor some part of her wedding vows. Orry put up a reputation of mistresses to make a smokescreen so no one would think about the coincidence of him and Madeline being absent from their homes at the same time.
In the novel, Virginia’s abolitionist gathering was attended by George only (coming home from Mont Royal).
The adaptation omits George and Constance’s children William and Patricia, as well as Stanley and Isabel’s twins Laban and Levi.
The novel concludes the feuding brothers plot with a train crash involving the whole family..No one dead, but Stanley agrees to give George full authority to Hazard Irons while he gets financial aid, which he uses for his (and Isabel’s) political plans.
Yes, Inga Swenson played Gretchen in BENSON. In that series’ source series SOAP she played Corrine’s real mother.
